People say I'm strut when I walk. Believe me, I'm not. It's just how I walk.

On time to me is 10 minutes early. Almost no questions asked.

It's not really an accomplishment and everyone reading this has as well but I think it's cool that I/we lived through 01.01.01, 02.02.02, 03.03.03 and so on...

I have never enjoyed wearing things on my wrist. Irritating. Itchy. A couple months ago I saw a watch I really really liked but it hadn't been "released" yet…then it was and the price was revealed. Yeah. Ridiculous.

The second I take NyQuil my mindset is how much can I get done before I can't keep my eyes open anymore.

When it's someone's birthday on Facebook that I actually know without needing a reminder. I say Happy Birthday to them and out of respect, I don't say Happy Birthday to the other people who have the same birthday like they somehow know.

I get serious satisfaction out of hitting a light switch inches away with an article of clothing (any) to flip it off and I get it on the first try. Because walking that extra step would've killed me.

Sometimes I wish I was pregnant just for the mere fact I wouldn't get my period. Horrible logic, I know.

There was a man in our church who lost his mom and then his dad 2 weeks later. I couldn't help but think that's exactly how I'd like to go if I get to that point in life - right before/after my spouse.

I'm really not a big birthday person but I'm glad mine isn't near any holidays.

In the last month, I've seen a lot of movies (for me) in the theaters. Lincoln. Brilliant. Skyfall. SO good - minus still using PC's in the film. The Hobbit. Phenomenal and made me feel like a kid again. Les Miserables. Either I've let my movie critiquing guide down or films have really stepped up their game. Honestly, Anne Hathaway earned some respect back. She looked absolutely awful -- bubbly snot in her nose, singing, tears streaming down and it was just so good. I give props to actors/actresses who can do that - this movie was seriously great.

I rarely to never shut the door when I go to the bathroom (in my bathroom downstairs).

Left pocket of my coat is for my keys. Right pocket is for my phone.

The other night I pulled out my journal from the summer before my senior year and my senior year in HS. I started writing because I wanted to and continued to because I was "forced" to by Marsman for my independent Creative Writing class with her. I'm so thankful to have those memories in writing and have enjoyed reminiscing and reading Marsman's responses. I don't miss HS in the slightest…except playing basketball.

I'm so thankful and blessed to be part of the family of God. The love and support you get from other believers is such a blessing. Referring specifically this time to being unemployed/interviewing.

  • Convictions.

I wholeheartedly believe there are some things that are black and white. No middle ground. No ifs'. ands or buts about it. Black and white.

    • One way to Salvation.

    • Abortion is murder.

    • Half obeying is disobeying.

Just to name a few. There are also things in this world that just aren't as black and white. Right for you, wrong for me kind of deal. Although, admittedly so I like to inwardly think if it's wrong for me then it should be for everyone. I obviously know that's not true. Our convictions can be different.

For example. Drinking. If you ask my grandma, she'd give you a good talking to about how evil it is and how you should never get near it. She'll give you the Snake in the Pants talk, which I got very seriously at the age of 16 because mom and I accidentally sipped some wine (and despised it) while in Bolivia.  [Side note: I tried to google Snake in your Pants story and well…that's one thing you can't find on the internet. I'll post that story later.] My mindset is that it isn't wrong and I truly believe that. It is not wrong to drink alcohol. Can it be wrong? Absolutely. Have I drank it? Yes, I have. Do I still drink? No, I don't. You see, God really convicted me on this. In spite of my convictions, I still don't think it's wrong - it just isn't for me. Would I hope most believers thought this way? I'd be lying if I said no but I don't hold them to my standards by any means.

Almost a year ago, I borrowed 6 seasons of a show most everyone I knew was talking about. They loved it and found it so funny and I had never seen a single episode. When it comes to tv shows, I cannot pick it up in the middle, I have to start from the beginning to get to know the characters and so on. I began watching How I Met Your Mother and at first was seriously questioning why all my friends were raving about this show. Maybe I was being too critical of the sexual jokes? I don't know. So naturally, I kept watching to see if it got better. I watched 6 seasons and caught up 13 episodes in season 7 in 3 weeks, then finished the season out and after a summer away from the show was feeling incredibly convicted that I allowed myself to be desensitized to my original reactions to the show. I had a choice to make. Keep watching and ignore my convictions or stop watching and be out of the loop. The choice should have been a simple one and all in all, it was because I knew what I needed to do but simply because I knew I needed to didn't mean I wanted to (unfortunately). Sadly they don't always line up as they should.

Again tonight, I sit convicted about a show I watch. Up to a point for me, most shows are just stupid drama and as long as they aren't hindering my time or relationship with God, it's mindless relaxation time I don't feel badly about. I don't even know why I began watching Parenthood. I liked the main actress and the story line of family was pretty interesting to me until tonight. One of the characters found out she was pregnant and went through with an abortion. For me, that's where I draw the line to supporting and watching. I know it's fake but I can tell you, I don't care. Not for a second do I think that's appropriate. Do I want to stop watching? Honestly, no. I'm actually really interested in other parts of the show and how it will pan out but is it worth my own integrity and going against convictions? It really isn't.

Abortion has been something God has really put on my heart in the past couple years. I honestly am not even sure why but I'm incredibly passionate about and enraged over the idea of this being legal. Knowing this is something God has put on my heart and sitting back continually supporting a show that supports it as an option, for me, would be wrong.

But know, I don't expect anyone to have or share the same convictions as I do. That'd be unfair for me to put such pressure on others. I don't look down on people for drinking or watching HIMYM or Parenthood. (Just a few tangible convictions of mine. Believe me, I have others.) People don't answer to me nor do I answer to them but we should remember, we answer to God, which means a whole heck of a lot more. I'm not trying to make my convictions bigger deals than they are, just giving warning or insight not to ignore what He puts on your heart, big or small. We would be wise not to shrug them off as that's dangerous territory, in my opinion.

Today my conviction is a tv show. Tomorrow it could be something much bigger or smaller and I pray with His wisdom and power, "I am able to submit myself to God and resist the Devil, so he will flee from me." (James 4:7) Honestly, I'm thankful He convicts me to continually mold and refine me in the fire to be more Christ-like. I'm unworthy yet thankful He cares for me so deeply.

  • 2012

I’ve never been big into the new year as my time to reflect.  So much so, I decided to see when the last time I posted anything about a New Year was…2006. I do most of my reflecting, if you will, around my birthday - the start of another year in my own life.

But this year, I actually want to spend some time reflecting. Maybe it'll be an every 6 year tradition or something? Probably not. Looking back (in memory and blogs) to a year ago, this isn't how I would have chosen or expected this year to end.

    • Jobless (which has only been a GREAT decision - just weird to be unemployed)

    •  I don't know how to define this point. Not a day goes by I don't commit it to prayer.

As much as I know all of 2012 wasn't rough, the last couple months have been hard on my heart. Some of my greatest memories from the year make the ending ones harder. It's a vicious cycle of bittersweet or sweetbitter. I've had more nights then I'd like to admit with my head on the pillow and tears streaming down my face.

I'm continuing to seek God for direction and peace which transcends all understanding . I know I'm not in control in the slightest. I wish that somehow made my heart stop hurting but it doesn't. I'm still human and won't feel badly for feeling. I can't stop my heart from caring or loving - nor do I want to. I so desperately want things done in my timing but that only makes it harder. I rest, as I should, in His timing and His plan despite the pain and confusion. He is, thankfully, bigger than myself.

I know that probably seems like the worst reflection on the year but like I said, that comes more in depth in September but for now this will suffice. Here's to 2013. A year of, I can honestly say, I have no idea and yet, I'm looking forward to seeing what God has in stored for this life.

  • [no title]

This post has nothing to do with anything. You'd think being jobless I'd have something deeper to write. Well, I do but this is easier and I've actually had it awhile. Anyway, you've been warned. Pointless post to begin 2013.

Then I think people probably think that of me. Seriously. Let me prove my point.

Honestly, I wonder how I got this far in life as well.

    Real posts coming soon.

  • Gift to Jesus.

I'm a multi-tasker by trade. Almost 100% of the time I'm doing more than 1 thing at a time, if not more. Or my mind is thinking about something else while I'm doing other things. I like to listen to music with one headphone in while working on my computer at work, Panera etc so I can still know/hear what is going on around me. Yesterday for example, I was burning DVD's, uploading videos, importing basketball games, and going through church footage. I see it as making the most of that time.

I'm that person who can read a paragraph (or even several pages) and realize I have no idea what I just read. Then decide to re-read it again and actually focus or just pretend those paragraphs/pages don't exist (hello…college). My mind was occupied while reading: job, friends, family, basketball, schedule, or re- running a conversation -- you name it. This all is, of course, more pressing and sometimes still occupies our minds during that second read through (will we never learn?).

Every so often, I find mistakes I make while multi-tasking because I'm not giving my complete focus to just one thing: sending emails to the wrong people, deleting files and emptying the trash (never to get it back again), spelling mistakes, sentences that don't make sense. You'd think I'd learn.

There is one time, I don't enjoy multi-tasking and that's with people/relationships. I don't enjoy being multi-tasked and I don't enjoy multi-tasking others. Meaning, if I'm with you - I try to be all with you giving the person my time. I know I still fall short of that with texts here and there but for the most, I try to be fully there. Not allowing my mind to wander or being on my phone.

For me, multitasking unfortunately seem to occur during devotions and prayer. Sometimes during church, I find myself praying for focus and attentiveness. Interesting how that seems the opportune time out of the entire day for me to mentally sort through what to wear, what presents I haven't purchased, how my bed isn't made….again, you name it. Of course, it really is no surprise. The devil looks for every opportunity to steer our attention away from The Lord and what better time than when we are reading His Word? Distractions keep us from reading the Word and learning and growing.

As I was reading my Bible tonight and becoming frustrated with myself that my mind wasn't or hasn't been fully focused lately, I began to realize how much this has affected me. The struggle to fit in quality devotional time has led me to be more impatient, less merciful, and all around out of sorts. I have not gotten the encouragement from God not because of any lack on His part but solely because of myself. I have not been reprimanded for my many faults through Scripture. I have not felt challenged with new goals from Scripture. I have to a point. I don't think I'd be writing this post if I hadn't been.

Yes, I teach Sunday School, I coach basketball and focus the kid's attention on God above all else but that is hardly the time with The Lord I need and should give Him. My relationship with God is ever moving and changing. He is constantly showing and teaching me new things. I learn more about Him every day through my life and the people I serve, but I need to be in His Word every day. I need that accountability, that encouragement, that challenge….from Him.

While it may be difficult at times, it is the most important priority in my life. Or at least should be. Having a consistent time with God daily will not only help me be a better Christ follower, but will also specifically help me love others. I may think that sacrificing my devotional time to care for others justifies my actions, but it is actually a detriment to them. How can I love His people if I am not learning more about God's love? How can I teach them or show them through example about God if I am not always learning about Him myself?

If I don't like to multi-task people and vice versa, why would I think it's ok to multi-task my most important relationship? Pastor the other week talked about present giving. I love giving presents. Better to give than receive…I genuinely believe that. He asked what are we giving Jesus this year? Something I've never really thought of. Obviously we can't physically give Him anything…an iPod would be kind of useless. There is one thing we can give Him and should give Him for Christmas and everyday. Ourselves. Our complete being. Mind, body and soul.

My challenge to myself and my gift to Him is being more aware and in control of my physical and mental multi-tasking. Isn't that the least I can do for the One that came to earth to die a sinner's death for my sins?

  • Debates.

I'm not one to join in on something...on facebook. Commenting on status updates or even having my own. The majority of the time, I just think it's fighting fools - ha, even when I do it, I find myself thinking I've wasted my breath or fingers (by typing). But sometimes, I'm just so frustrated at how stupid people can be.

My status this week after hearing Obama speak at the vigil.

"Mr. President, you want to make a safer place for children (by making more gun laws, I assume)? Why don't we start with a world where we don't legalize murdering them in the first place?? I don't mean to be crass but what makes a school killing any different?"

We kill around 900 kids a day. No tears are being spread for them. No speeches made for them. No Bible verses quoted for them.

Someone had a status about more gun controls being a good thing. So I commented this.

"Because criminals obey the laws? Last time I checked it's ILLEGAL to go into a school and shoot people - yet it happened anyway."

His response, "and if your guns won't be used in a crime, then why not register them them and regulate them, what are you afraid of then."

"Never said I was. Register them. Nor do I think guns is the issue anyway. It's the lack of God and the gospel. That is the only thing that will change anything anyway."

Him, "Yes, by giving kids another way to alienate each other at school. That will help." (I literally laughed out loud and was sickened by such a response by a professing believer. Not to mention this comment got a couple likes...)

My reserved response which has gone unspoken, "We are to be a light in the world and we were never promised it'd be easy. I'd rather myself and my kids be alienated for sharing the gospel then being accepted for keeping beliefs to themselves."

My insides just whirl at these kind of things. If believers aren't willing to be alienated for our beliefs and quiver at sharing, then what's the point of us calling ourselves Christians if we keep it to ourselves? Shouldn't we want to share with the lost? Ok, I'm done.

  • The Gospel.

Last night the President of the United States of America took precedent on probably all stations as he gave a speech at the vigil in Newtown, Conn.

I'm not going to pretend like I like Obama. Frankly, I don't.  And frankly it sickened me to hear  Scripture being read from his foolish mouth. Although, I find it ironic that a country I do not believe is "under God" goes straight to Scripture in moments like these. Possibly comforting but mostly hypocritical in my mind. You want to make a safer place for children (by making more gun laws)? Why don't we start with a world where we don't legalize killing them in the first place??  I don't mean to be crass but what makes a school killing any different?

Since starting to study Genesis in BSF, I've been amazed by the little things I've passed over for years and have tried to be more intentional in any of life to focus on the little things. Yesterday Pastor tied his sermon in (somewhat) to the shooting in Connecticut.

Pastor posed the question what if we mocked or made light of the school shooting? What if we said things to anyone…to the parents…to the community… "they were just children, who cares", "they deserved to die anyway", "it isn't like there life was worth anything" ….obviously absurd as no one in their right mind would ever say anything like that. Not now. Not ever.

He spoke about how any parent would want to save their child from harm. Any parent. (I might add) Any Aunt. Uncle. Grandparent. I obviously couldn't help but to think if that was one of my nephews, I'd do anything. anything. in a heart beat to switch places with them.

John 19. The Crucifixion. Verse 25 begins, "Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother…" and I'm not sure why I've overlooked this for years. Mary watched her Son, THE Son of the world be mocked, scorned and crucified. Although, I'm sure Mary knew this needed to happen (for her sins as well as everyone's sin), I can't imagine that made it any easier.

We wouldn't make comments about how children deserve to die etc but we openly mock JESUS as he hangs upon a cross. We mocked Jesus. We scoff at the idea of anyone mocking kids or these parents, as we should. Yet, we mock Jesus. There's definitely a disconnect.

The President ended his speech with, "There is only one thing we can be sure of (pause) and that's the love we have." False. Most definitely false. I'm sure of something much greater.

One of the men that hung by Jesus looked at Him as if to say there is nothing I can do for you, which is absolutely true. The gospel is not what you and I do for God. There’s nothing we can do for Him and there’s nothing we have done that qualifies us to merit His salvation. The gospel is what God did for us. That I am sure of and eternally thankful for.

The Gospel plain and simple is what this world needs. Not thoughts or opinons on gun laws (although, I have them and so do others) but that means nothing. The Gospel is what must be spread to change the hearts of a nation that should be "under God" for better or for worse - not just when it's convenient for us.

  • Random

Per Sadie’s request – ha, the only person that comments on this blog. I’ll continue these random posts. Easily influenced, I guess. It's only fair she gets a shout out since I made her blog the other day (point 7). The only difference is people know about and follow hers. Also you'd think this not everyday is Saturday stay at home mom with no kids thing, I would have posted it on the right day. Surprisingly, I'm keeping busy though.

One thing I’d love to do is bobsled (not a bunch of times) – just once or twice. Ever since I saw Cool Running bobsledding has fascinated me since. I know this will never happen but, it’s a thrilling idea.

I’ve never used a tampon. Truth.

    Tom Hanks. Hilarious.

I came across this the other day and I remember each one. I read them and remembered them fondly. That makes me feel old.

Last month within a week of each other. I went to 2 concerts for free. Zac Brown Band with my aunt, sister and cousin-in-law. I hope to be able to do things like that for/with my nephews (and nieces, if I ever get any) someday. A week later Hunter Hayes and Carrie Underwood with one of my basketball players. She got tickets for her birthday and she asked me. You can’t turn that down.

I was genuinely sad to miss hunting season this year. I didn't get out once due to weddings and basketball.

For the year of 2012, I had a daily e-card calendar. Loved it. 2013 one ordered.

My company is a psychotic. They gave us Friday after Thanksgiving off (I would have had to take it off anyway due to Emily's wedding) but they aren't giving us Christmas Eve off. Yeah. I'll be taking that off. (I wrote that before I quit.)

There's so much of the world I haven't seen and probably never will, which I'm ok with...I'm content.

2 movies I have wanted to see but haven't had time. Avengers and Skyfall. And soon to be The Hobbit. Avengers was the first thing I rented and watched Monday morning on my first day of unemployment.

It's a personal pet peeve of mine when people don't capitalize pronouns relating to God. For example, "I’m sure God knows what he’s doing though". Sorry it should be, "I’m sure God knows what He’s doing though."

I love being the person people come to for techy questions.

Sometimes when people post status updates about the weather or the date like "it's snowing!!" or "it's 12/12/12" I want to post a status that says, "Thank goodness you told me the weather or date because I don't have a window I can look out of or I don't have a calendar that tells me." Not to be mean - just because I think that'd be funny.

My nephew series is finished. The first 2 pictures with Gabey and Nathan in the same outfit were an accident as well as the sugar pictures. We decided we couldn't just stop there. Love being an aunt to these boys. Love it.

    (Probably better viewed on FB.)

  • I quit.

Friday as I left, I quit my job. I've never quit a single thing in my life - especially a job. I always follow it through. Not this time and quite honestly, I feel like a failure. This plus something else in my life has really been weighing me down lately. If you're 1 of 4 people that read this blog consistently, you would know this already - although, I wouldn't blame you if you stopped reading due to the negativity or dare I say, honesty, transparency and vulnerability  of me. Something the keys of my keyboard and prayers to God are only privy to. And even then, these posts are reserved from certain subject matters.

I know in 10 years this isn't going to seem like anything and I'll wonder why I felt like this all was such a trial but right now, my heart hurts. My stomach is sick and every moment, I am fighting back tears.

Friday on the way to work - this happened. It wasn't until I was home that I had a moment to thank my brother. He, nor anyone else in the family/really anyone really knew how awful things have been and this was my first hint of opening to them.

Then Saturday came along. This was in my car as I went to it in the morning.

Quite honestly, it almost brought me to tears. You'd think I was pregnant lately - the constant verge of tears and holding them back has been exhausting. I spent some time with my brother later that morning, some quality one on one time while picking up a tv at grandma's house, which probably hasn't happened since he got married (which is obviously understandable). Anyway, we talked and I filled him in a little about the job and how I've been struggling not to quit.

Later on in the day, dad and I headed to Best Buy and I knew Gabe had filled him in. My parents always ask about work but it's a pretty generic conversation. You know, nothing different then how was school back in the day. But you also just know when someone is asking the question differently - he was. So I filled him in on work. He kept saying to keep going, not to quit etc etc. I respect my father greatly and don't want to disappoint him or others. This week I've been gritting my teeth, trying to suck it up and put on my big kid pants.

We aren't that family that sits around the dinner table talking about our days and problems but I never question if my family loves me. Never. We show our love and support in different ways. During basketball season, I'm rarely home and my parents don't see me that often, so any follow up questions about my job haven't really come up. Wednesday my dad sent me this text and I knew it was because he knew work has been a real struggle for me, which is why I answered the way I did.

Wednesday during my lunch break, I was online job hunting and discovered my job was posted last week. My boss does things anonymously so people don't know where they are applying - I only know this because he entrusted this information to me when he loved me. I use the term loved as loosely as I possibly can. As confident as I was that this was my job, I didn't know for sure. I did one thing, which I will openly admit was wrong to figure it out. I created a fake person and resume to apply. Despite being wrong, I will still say it was pretty genius. He never would have admitted to me he was quite literally forcing my hand to quit. Awful, right?

Anyway, that was Wednesday during the day. Wednesday night I had a meeting with our Pastor and Anna about design elements for the church. I really wasn't looking forward to but those are details I won't divulge...even here. To say the least, wrapping Wednesday as a whole was an emotionally draining day. Then I went home. I tried to avoid any questions but per usual, dad asked about work but knowing it has been awful wouldn't let me avoid the conversation by changing the subject to Joey. I did well for about 30 seconds and the tears began to stream - I knew partly because of the events at church, which the parents/family don't know about, and the conversation was strictly work related. Mom started in, not knowing about dad's earlier text, about sticking it out until I find another job etc. but once the tears began to flow, the mood was different. They knew I was seriously hurting. Honestly, I can't remember the last time I cried like that in front of my parents. I felt like a little child again but I couldn't hold it in. They reiterated their support in my decision and even encouraged the quitting with further conversation. Like I said, I didn't want to disappoint them and all these months of holding on, hoping, praying and striving to be a light in a dark world, I've been putting on a good front to show people I've made it.

I finally headed to my room and just for curiosity sake, checked the email I created. It was my job. The tears began again. I really couldn't believe it. What kind of person treats people like that?

Thursday was family support day. Seriously. I take love them but sometimes I think I take for granted that they'd bash people's heads in for me.

(All the above was written earlier last week.)

Friday I went into work knowing I was going to quit. I deleted my personal information from my record (phone number, email address, home address). I spent a good amount of time trying to find some of the explicit emails my boss had sent me but they had vanished. I wasn't surprised though. I accidentally came across this.

It says, "See what Bethany has been up to..." on Linkedin on November 9. Yes, this mistreatment dates back even further than that. He is checking up on me because he thinks I will publicly say something about looking for another job. Does he think I'm an idiot? Even then, I hadn't started looking.

Another thing you need to know about my former boss is in every email he writes, he so unprofessionally so writes "............................................." after every 2-3 words. I knew he had been trying to get me to quit for a little over a month. He wouldn't fire me because 1. he has NO basis to fire me and 2. he would have to pay me unemployment. I knew it wouldn't phase him or Janet if I quit and I knew he'd make up some story to me to the other employees. I decided not to go out quivering. Normally, I would! This time, though, I was standing up for myself and every employee that works there and/or has worked there. I sent the email to Mike and Janet then cc'd everyone else (10 people).

    "I quit......................................................http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/web/3440233832.html..............................................good luck with that.

My last paycheck can be given to Sarah....................................................................... if it isn't issued at the appropriate time, further actions will be taken.

    ---------

Everyone else, it was a pleasure working with you. I hope sooner rather than later, you're able to find a job where you're appropriately treated, respected and paid what you're actually worth."

Then I walked out...on top of the world.

A friend in the office sent me this -- it was a pending (which is kind of confusing but it isn't hidden). JP = Janet MM=Mike

"Where is her phone ###????! I'm going to call her and tell her that her little email is unprofessional and will be considered an action taken by her to interfere with our normal course of business....JP--I am sure she cleared out a bunch of stuff and hacked into our emails..............she deleted records..........be glad she is gone. MM Yes, I am but, her email has done damage and needs to be addressed on not ignored....what rec did she delete?  she cannot hack into emails because she does not have access and frankly there's nothing in emails. JP--she delete info in her record........how did she get the craig's list posting--looking??? MM

Just unbelievable. You would think I stole from them or lost their biggest client. Neither of which being true. Yes, Mike, I found the posting. I didn't need to do any hacking to find it - although, I could've easily done that if I wanted to.

Not an hour later, I got a facebook message,

"Hello my name is Jane. I used to work at IQS and I think you're the Bethany who quit there today. If so I'd like to give you a virtual pat on the back and if you need to go out and get a drink tonight to clean the filth from that place off yourself I am available  I think what you did was phenomenal!!!!!"

You see. I'm the first college graduate in my immediate family. This was my first real not family oriented job and...I quit. I gave up. Despite having their full support, I still feel like I've failed in someway. Failed them. Failed myself. Failed God. I know, deep down, this is not true and I know whatever is next in my life, God will continue to use to shape me. I felt so good - so confident that I found this job, someone actually hired me and I didn't have to lean on family for it. I was, by the world's standards, a grown up. Which is probably the reason I didn't tell anyone what had really been going on there. When asked where I worked, I could rattle off I work and go off on it sounding like a real adult. I liked that. Truth be told, I loved that. Now. I'm probably worse off than square one.

Yet, I know without a shadow of doubt I made the right decision. I'm financially unsure of my life (not really, dad made sure to tell me that isn't anything I need to worry about) but I don't have income. I don't even know the last time that was true for me. I have savings which I don't want to touch. The car fix I planned on will need to wait but the burden has been lifted and God will provide. Amen...because I have no idea what is to come but know He will direct my paths. I really believe God blesses us in whatever path we take as long as we're honoring Him in what we're doing. Whether we're sitting behind a desk all day not talking to a single soul, serving on the mission field, being a stay at home mom etc. - makes me think of this song

Day 1 of unemployment. I decided to just chill. I slept in until 8. Watched a movie. Played with nephews. Did something for my uncle. Went to the store and finished writing this. Basketball practice later. Tomorrow I'll get to work on the church website. Today I chose to relax and it was great.

  • puh-lease.

It's e-mails like this, that are degrading to me and come in bulk (only a little sarcasm). This one just needs little to no explaination.

"it is just replacing the image.................."

    1. I'm daily given things I've never done before and have to figure out. When I have a question, I get answers like this.

    2. If it was actually that easy (and it's not)....do it yourself and save us all time.

This job is sucking the life out of me and I genuinely mean that.

My daily prayer is for my attitude to be Christ-like despite the way I'm treated and for the strength not to say, "I quit".

    And for another job.

You see, I've been praying God uses me as a light in a dark world. This work place is lost and it's quite saddening. I often walk out of work thankful that I don't behave in such a way as the people inside those doors and it's only because God rescued me. So, I see it as my responsibility to shed His light in anyway I can. But, I also believe there's a line between being a light and laying down to abuse. Being a Christian doesn't mean letting people walk all over you. In all honesty, I'm a pretty spineless person. I know this and have been told it jokingly and not jokingly. I don't stand up for myself but in a heartbeat would stand up for someone I care about. I let people walk all over me...over and over again. Giving chance after chance, blaming myself and wondering what I could have done to prevent the situation. Needless to say, it takes a lot for me to get to the point of standing up for myself. I'm there in my mind but I'm not there outwardly...yet. I pray that even in my standing up for myself, if it comes, I still represent Christ through my actions.

Thankful His mercies are new every single morning.
