• Debates.

  I'm not one to join in on something...on facebook. Commenting on status updates or even having my own. The majority of the time, I just think it's fighting fools - ha, even when I do it, I find myself thinking I've wasted my breath or fingers (by typing). But sometimes, I'm just so frustrated at how stupid people can be. 

  My status this week after hearing Obama speak at the vigil. 

  "Mr. President, you want to make a safer place for children (by making more gun laws, I assume)? Why don't we start with a world where we don't legalize murdering them in the first place?? I don't mean to be crass but what makes a school killing any different?"

   

  We kill around 900 kids a day. No tears are being spread for them. No speeches made for them. No Bible verses quoted for them.

   

  Someone had a status about more gun controls being a good thing. So I commented this. 

   

  "Because criminals obey the laws? Last time I checked it's ILLEGAL to go into a school and shoot people - yet it happened anyway."

   

  His response, "and if your guns won't be used in a crime, then why not register them them and regulate them, what are you afraid of then."

   

  "Never said I was. Register them. Nor do I think guns is the issue anyway. It's the lack of God and the gospel. That is the only thing that will change anything anyway."

   

  Him, "Yes, by giving kids another way to alienate each other at school. That will help." (I literally laughed out loud and was sickened by such a response by a professing believer. Not to mention this comment got a couple likes...)

   

  My reserved response which has gone unspoken, "We are to be a light in the world and we were never promised it'd be easy. I'd rather myself and my kids be alienated for sharing the gospel then being accepted for keeping beliefs to themselves." 

   

  My insides just whirl at these kind of things. If believers aren't willing to be alienated for our beliefs and quiver at sharing, then what's the point of us calling ourselves Christians if we keep it to ourselves? Shouldn't we want to share with the lost? Ok, I'm done.
