Saturday – Errands, Birthday Party1. We did my birthday dinner on Sunday because Gabe was going to be gone well…today as I post this. So we did it last Sunday, even though my birthday isn’t until Wednesday which I will also be out of town for…so it worked. We ate around the table, which rarely happens. My parents rented me a Sonata (the kind of car I am going to some day buy…) for my trip to Iowa. That’ll save a bit of money in the gas area. Took a little nap, then Anna and I headed to Grand Haven. A bit windy to say the least but still worth the time. We played some 2 hand Euchre and stayed for the musical fountain. Just another one of those days I’m blessed to be friends with Anna…although, every day seems to be that kind of day. On our way back, I got a call from Emily and should have known it was her needing to talk. I called her back once we got home and we chatted for awhile about the reason she called and then chatted about her and Carl. It’s cute to hear her talk about how he is the man she has been praying for and waiting for all her life.
2. Monday I took some family photos of Beka’s sister’s family. It was a bit chilly and the kids are rather young but it went alright. After that, I was feeling quite lazy, went home and really did nothing on Labor Day. It was nice to not have some pressing matter that I had to get done. I probably could’ve edited the photos but I really didn’t want to – like I said, I was feeling lazy.
3. Tuesday decided to go play some basketball after I ate dinner. It was the first time I really felt like I remembered how to play. It felt good to be sinking some of my old shots and not feeling like I was out of my element. I was even hitting my free-throws the way I used to 9 out of 10. It always frustrated me to no end when people missed free-throws or were below 80%. Even now, in my mind there is really no excuse for not hitting a free-throw. Anyway, at the end of the day after sitting in a cubicle all day it was just good to be outside. I was in bed sleeping by 9:30…my lameness is only getting worse. I was done with things to do, so I headed to bed…why not.
4. Wednesday work day was one of those long, irritating days. By lunch, it had felt like a full days work and my patience with people was lacking. It really was by the grace of God that I didn’t tell others what was on my mind. It was mid-afternoon when I finally realized it was Wednesday and not Tuesday. It made that last hour or so go by a little faster.
Anna and I had a meeting with Pastor Mark to chat logos but he thought it was an hour later than what he said and we had not planned to stay for church, so we left. I got a Coldstone giftcard almost exactly a year ago for my bday from Gabe and Beka, so Anna helped me use it. It was a good and much needed end to the day. Hands down, the highlight of Wednesday! Almost immediately after getting in my car, Heather called. It was one of those calls that I would have expected when we first met. I listened and said uh huh a lot while she talked…but the difference is, she realized it. Thursday morning I got an email from her apologizing for “dominating” the conversation. It may seem small but these are huge things that show growth in her. I got home and had to help my mom again with the computer. She was being short and sharp with me, which made me not that willing to help – I did anyway. I think she even realized it because I got an email from her saying “thanks for helping” …gotta love technology. Emailing people in the same house to communicate. Hm. 5. Thursday was a much better day all around than Wednesday. Got home, played with some boys. Nathan’s first question when he sees is “Boppy can I have some of your canny?” haha, it’s cute. Gabey is always “hiding” from me when he sees me pull up – always behind the curtains. Joey just crawls right up to me begging to be picked up. I just love those guys.
6. Friday after work met up with Anna at the Apple store to get her a new phone, then headed to her house got some dinner, talked to the rents then we went to her room and did some computer stuff, talked and then we picked out a couple new frames for some glasses. That’s right, in a couple weeks be prepared for new and improved Bethany Sanderson. New glasses. New Haircut. New Bible study. New…personality?
But seriously, it’ll be swell to have some different glasses options. Anyway, another absolutely great night spent in the presence of Anna being us. 7. Friday, woke up ready to go, which was good because I needed the motivation with how much I’ve put things off. I headed over to get my eyebrows and lip waxed, which was much overdo and much needed so I didn’t look like a hairy, bushy man for Victoria’s wedding. Then headed to Meijer and finally, scanned, printed and found a collage picture gift for the more personal part of V’s wedding present. I’ve had this idea for some time but have procrastinated till literally the last minute. I got home, worked on it and decided it would be perfect to give to Missy as well. So I headed back to Meijer. It’s a progression of pictures (not as many as I would have liked) of the 3 of us together over the years and it works out that it’s just the 3 of us in the wedding. If there were more, I probably wouldn’t give it to Missy as well but it’s just perfect. I came home and did some basement cleaning on mom’s strong suggestion. Played with some nephews, of course, then the friends came over for a birthday celebration. A great one I may add. Much thanks and appreciation goes to Anna for this as well. A real friend doing all she can to show her love and appreciation for me as a person. I’m incredibly underserving but overwhelming thankful and blessed by her efforts, big and small. All are noticed with a heart of gratitude for such a friend…for such a sister. We headed to Craig’s Cruiser and played laser tag. Seriously a good time. I can’t remember the last time I played and it really was genuinely fun. We came back to my house for a bonfire, some Just Dance and finished the night with a movie. It was only missing a certain Lisa Cogswell and a proper thanking of Anna. Although both things I knew wouldn’t happen before the day began.
