Saturday - Practice and hanging out with Anna1. I have been "recruited" to make a video for a ministry in our church called VIP. It's a ministry for mentally handicapped adults during our main service, so parents can go to the service. It's actually a great idea as many people with mentally impaired children are unable to come, sit in a service because their child is disruptive. In the VIP, they are taught at their level and respected as human beings. It's actually quite touching. Anyway, I'm working on a video to help raise awareness for it in our church and for others as well. I was so tired on Sunday with the staying up past midnight from having people over combined with the week of work and basketball. At lunch dad commanded me to go take a nap. Like I wasn't going to do that anyway. It was nice that he also noticed the need for one. I spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing and reading. During night church, our pastor's wife came up to me and quickly explained they were having a going away party for someone within our church that night. I passed the word down our row. I kind of knew the person but not really. Our row decided to go, which was a good thing seeing how we were the main bulk of the people.
2. Monday was BUSY. Deb Gray was in town for the weekend and wanted to get lunch before she headed back later that day. I went in early to work, so I was able to take a longer lunch. It was good to see and catch up with her. I've always appreciated my friendship with Deb and was definitely disappointed when she moved away due to a job. After work, I headed to ACS where I wasn't able to have practice because of JH having a game. I made it a requirement for my team to be there to support and encourage the girls. After the game, we went back to a classroom and talked. I asked questions about why they thought I wanted them at the game. They understood it was for support but I honed in on how these younger girls look up them and their responsibility to be role models for them. Which was kind of ironic as I had planned to have dinner with Kim after talking with them. It was good to sit and talk with Kim, who I haven't really talked to since I was in HS and we played basketball together. She was persistant about getting together again. Which is good as it sounds like she doesn't really have a group of friends that she can really count on. Coincidence that I ran into her at Trini's the other night? I think not. After dinner with Kim, I decided to head to Rockford. Sunday on my way home at night, I went through Rockford and took notice of the lights and such by the dam and decided I wanted to get some night pictures down there for my weekly photos.
3. We had another basketball game. I honestly think we would have been in it if we would have hit our wide open layups. We missed at least 15 wide open lay ups. My main post player still refuses to catch the basketball and to be strong with it. She just gets lazy and it's incredibly frustrating. I didn't roll in the driveway until around 11:30 and then I struggle sleeping because my mind is still going over the basketball game.
4. Wednesday my only night off through the week was spent getting my oil changed which was overdue and running some errands. While sitting in the waiting room while my car was being worked on, I called grandma and tried for 54 minutes to get her to install flash player. Despite my tiredness, I kick my patience into serious high gear with her. It's something I probably could have done in 5-10 minutes yet was unsuccessful after 54. I got home, played with Nay and Joey and headed to bed around 9:15. It was beautiful. Not so beautiful when the dogs barked in the morning, woke me up and the clock read 8:15. Oops.
5. Thursday practice went pretty well. I was a lot more vocal than normal but they responded well. Some even thanked me for it. Sweet. I also bought the entire team water bottles - mostly because I'm sick of spending so much time in practice waiting for them to wait in line to get drinks or go to the bathroom and get them. Or in games, they aren't ever around when I want to talk to them during timeouts. No more excuses. Not to mention they all match and it makes them feel unified in a strange way. 1 gift, a couple positives come from it. I'll take it. I went home, relaxed and read a bit and headed to bed.
6. Friday are game was cancelled for the night as Thursday afternoon and night we got our first real snow of the winter. Seeing how I had worked extra all week to make up for being going Friday afternoon, I didn't have to go into work after lunch. Awesome. Mom had the boys so Beka could rest and get some things done at home. So I played with them, coloring, making snow icecream, watching movies but I really wanted to put away my clean laundry that had been sitting in my room since Sunday. While Gabey and Nathan watched a movie with Lydia, I took Joey downstairs to play and get some work done. Around 5, I left to meet up with Anna and Betsy for dinner and a movie at Anna's house. After the movie, we sat around and talked much longer than we expected.
7. Saturday morning we had practice and I'm pretty sure because of the snow day, they were just sitting around home doing nothing - which makes motivating them harder. They wake up eventually and I appreciate that they come to practice. I really dislike revamping practice when I get there because some don't show up. Such is life. I brought Gabey and Nathan to practice ad they loved it. They ran around with basketballs for 2 hours and pretty much had free reign of the gym. Aunt Boppy points right there. I came home, played with Gabey and Nathan some more before they left up North to snowmobile, did some stuff around the house, went for a walk and took some winter photos for next weeks pictures (yeah, I cheated a little bit...I don't care), spent some time painting the car where it was hit, then Anna came over. It was good to hang out with Anna. Sometimes we see each other quite a bit but don't actually have a chance to just chill and talk. It was nice to have that. I simply appreciate being able to go from being dumb to having a good conversation within seconds - it's such a great balance.
