Saturday or Sunday Take 7's...or Monday.
Ok, I'm starting these again. I started them up a bit ago with just random things on my mind that I wanted to get down quickly but swayed back into longer posts. The reason for the rebirth of these on the weekend will be for 1 reason only: to help me remember. This past week as I tried to remember events in my life, I couldn't remember them clearly. Thankfully I could click a couple buttons and somewhat get an idea of what I did and where during the summer of '08 because of my writings on here. I was also writing a friend and couldn't for the life of me remember how old I was...I had to do the math. I know, that's incredibly sad but I couldn't remember. Is it too early for severe memory loss? Honestly, I used to be able to remember everything...well, kind of. I'm really good with details - remembering those small seemingly insignificant details about people's lives. Apparently just not my own. . So from here on out, as I remember...on weekends, probably Sunday before my Sunday nap - I'll post "take 7's" - for lack of a better name and copying someone else, I'm keeping it the same. It'll just be a short, as short as we know I can keep it recap on the past week of things I did...
I'm posting this on Monday, simply because I took a lengthy nap on Sunday and after The Score Sunday night we (Yvonne, Anna, and I) headed to Lisa's just to say hey...by the time we got back, it was definitely bedtime.1. Deb Gray was in town for Tiff's wedding. It's always good to see her. We try to keep in contact while in between visits but it never goes quite that well. We struggle hearing each other and get stuck repeating each other often but at least we try. When together, we do a good job at keeping conversation going. We pick it up pretty well and that's nice to have in a friend. Sometimes it's awkward but not often. I genuinely enjoy her company and was thankful for some one on one time with her Saturday to talk a little bit. Thanks to Anna for allowing me to not have to worry about the Sunday school lesson, which made it possible to have a little down time with Deb.
2. Tiff and Nate's wedding. What a God honoring wedding it was...not that others aren't but there was something about this wedding that pointed so much to God. It was awesome to be a part of and to help set up, tear down, and just to know the two of them. It was a wedding where you know the marriage is just right.
3. 5 hour Chili date.
After a double cancellation by Strayhorn...we finally had dinner together. We headed to Chili's...it's officially our thing now. Good food and open late. haha. I genuinely love sitting and talking with Anna one on one. We hang out, talk, email often which is also great. Some days if we're lucky we can have a side conversation here and there in the presence of others but we don't get that lucky often, especially this summer. Conversation and friendship flows so naturally with her - we can simply be ourselves. We chatted about a broad range of subjects, one flowing from another for hours. We finally decided to check our phones. 10:45 pm. We had no idea. It was great. We knew we had been there awhile but 5 hours of talking was great. Neither of us were checking our phones, looking for messages, checking facebook - we just talked, enjoying the presence of each other and our friendship. So much more could be said...it was definitely a great night with a quality friend.
4. The first day of summer was on Tuesday. As far as I knew it was a pretty pleasant day during the day but once 5pm struck it turned into a monsoon. One crazy downpour thunderstorm. I quite enjoy a good thunderstorm here and there. It's soothing to me for some strange reason - I only wish a camera could capture a storm to its fullest.5. Any spare time I had was devoted to editing Sherri and Alex's wedding montage, which I'm currently uploading for them to see. Hopefully that buys me some time -- now I've got some severe editing to do.
6. Here's a Gabey one -- he wrote me a letter one night this week (came running over special to give it to me) and the next day during lunch came over to give me another one. We were sitting on the couch watching tv and he looked over and asked me when I was going to write him a letter? haha. I got on that right away. Now we've become quite the letter writers. I have a couple ready to go when the time comes. He always asks me to guess what he has...the conversation usually goes like this... B- "A donkey?" G - "No, a little smaller." B- insert another stupid guess G- "It starts with an L" - B - "A lady bug?" G - "A little bigger" B - "A lollipop" G- (sure I will never get it...) I used glue and scissors. B - Oh, is it a letter? G - YAY! (and excitedly takes it from behind his back and gives it to me.
7. Well, lets just add Sunday into this post. It was fun to be spontaneous and just drive to Lisa's house to say hey. We are rarely like that anymore for obvious reasons...jobs, sleep at 10:30, easily talking ourselves out of doing something...so it was good to just do something, which was in no way harmful to anyone, just a good time.Sure gonna miss having Lisa so close to even be able to do that in a month or so. Lame.
